  • Mediation in Financial Contribution :-

In many villages of Saurashtra, DSC_4977Trust president Mathurbhai Savani held village meetings and insisted that the check dam scheme should be adopted on a collective basis. In this check dam scheme, both the government and the villagers used to contribute financially. Among the government officials, the president of the trust, Mr. Mathurbhai, used his energy to bring the required amount, but there was some difficulty in the matter of public philanthropy. Although the villagers were ready to provide funds, more was needed. The president of the trust thought of contacting the financially fortunate people of each village and then preparing a list of such fortunate wealthy people in each village and holding group meetings and working to awaken the spirit of doing something for the homeland in each and every one of them. Wealthy people were influenced by Mathurbhai’s speech and took the responsibility of providing the economic needs of their native village. Thus the resourceful and happy people cooperated financially as well as in other ways. Similarly till date, due to Mathurbhai’s efforts, financial contribution of crores of rupees has been received to different villages through which check dam scheme has been made on a collective basis in a limited number of villages.

  • Creation of a number of checkdemos and involvement of trusts in larger checkdemos :-

Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust President Mathurbhai Savani’s continuous public awareness efforts created an environment to implement the check dam scheme on a collective basis. And with the efforts of Trust President Mathurbhai Savani, Sarkarshree announced the 60:40 public participation “Sardar Shishkar Jalsanchaya Yojana” which resulted in the construction of check dams in a number of villages with the cooperation of the people and the financial mediation of the trustees. Saurashtra has about 200 small and big rivers. Check demos up to 6 lakhs were sanctioned. But Mathurbhai Savani understood the same responsibility of working on big rivers, he suggested to the government to build check dams on big rivers and the government announced a public participation scheme for check dams up to one crore, so the trust appointed technical staff and administrative staff at its own expense and to build such big check dams. The work order from the government comes directly in the name of Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust, the technical men of the trust conduct a survey, select the site, the width of the river, the water cover in rain, the natural stones at the base, etc. A number of check dams have been set up by Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust in this way that 60% of the amount of work is coming from the government and 40% of the amount is collected by the villagers in the 40% public participation scheme.

  • To honor village committees and associates from the organization :-

Many people have contributed in this water harvesting campaign of Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust. In this committee mainly village members played a key role. There were efficient and clean talented leaders of different castes who took the whole village together and took forward the scheme by collecting the financial contribution of the entire village on time, at the time when the check dam work was going on. Keeping in mind that the quality of work is maintained, by saving as much as possible by using labor donations and locally available goods, besides making an important contribution to this scheme, taking care to get the contribution of the people who are burdened with business, in such a way that the work of the village is their own work in their own village.
